President Donald Trump will host a dinner at the White House for six Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, Politico reported Monday.
Dining with the president will be Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, Indiana Sen. Todd Young, New York Rep. Lee Zeldin and newly-elected Florida Rep. Francis Rooney.
Rooney, a fundraiser for Republicans including former President George W. Bush and presidential candidate Mitt Romney, also was ambassador to the Holy See during the Bush administration.
The dinner comes during a week Trump has renewed efforts to impose a travel ban following the terrorist attack in London, and days before former FBI Director James Comey is scheduled to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The ousted Comey is expected to testify whether the president tried to persuade him to drop the agency's investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn and claims of Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election.
