Trump's Pick for Treasury Undersecretary Withdraws

President Donald Trump's nominee for deputy undersecretary of the Treasury Department withdrew his nomination Thursday, the White House announced.

Conservative economist Adam Lerrick withdrew from consideration but is expected to become an adviser to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, NBC reports.

NEWS: A Trump Treasury nominee, Adam Lerrick, with controversial ties to Argentina's sovereign debt crisis withdraws.

But he is still expected to be a senior adviser to Mnuchin, per a Finance Committee Democratic aide.

According to NBC, the Senate finance committee was conducting an investigation into Lerrick's financial dealings, ensuring he would not get confirmed.
