President Donald Trump's nominee for deputy undersecretary of the Treasury Department withdrew his nomination Thursday, the White House announced.

Conservative economist Adam Lerrick withdrew from consideration but is expected to become an adviser to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, NBC reports.

According to NBC, the Senate finance committee was conducting an investigation into Lerrick's financial dealings, ensuring he would not get confirmed.
