Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of President Donald Trump, is the headliner of a fundraiser for Kris Kobach, the vice chairman of Trump's voter fraud commission, who is running for governor of Kansas.

Kobach, now the Kansas secretary of state, is hosting a dinner and a reception Tuesday in Overland Park, Kan., where Trump Jr. is set to appear, according to The Washington Post.

Trump launched the voter fraud commission after his baseless claim that illegal votes led to his loss of the popular vote to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, according to The Post.

Vice President Mike Pence is the chairman of the commission, but Kobach presides over meetings of the 11-member panel, and has pursued voter fraud probes in his home state, The Post reported.

The Kansas race is likely to include a Republican incumbent as governor, as Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer is set to take over from Gov. Sam Brownback, who Trump nominated in July to serve as an ambassador for international religious freedom, the report said.

The White House did not respond as to whether the Trump Jr. appearance meant that the president was supporting Kobach instead of Colyer for governor, according to The Post.

Individual tickets to the Nov. 28 fundraiser begin at $200.

"It's always exciting when a member of the first family makes a campaign stop to support a candidate," said Samantha Potter, Kobach's campaign spokeswoman, in The Kansas City Star.
