A pro-Republican group has launched a $7 million advertising campaign lambasting Democrats for the impeachment inquiry, calling it a "politically motivated charade" and insisting that elections should be decided by voters, Politico reported on Monday.

The American Action Network (AAN), which is part of a collection of center-right groups that support House Republicans and their policies, criticizes Democrats in the ad campaign for concentrating on impeachment rather than working on crucial legislative items, such as securing the border and fixing healthcare.

The ANN said in a press release that the campaign includes $5 million in new television spots, which come in addition to $2 million in digital and social media advertising that began running last week.

This overall campaign, the most expansive and coordinated one so far on impeachment, is operating in 37 districts and is an attempt to portray Democrats as irrationally focused on removing the president and neglecting their other duties to the public, according to Politico.

Republicans are particularly concentrating on the handful of Democrat-held districts that President Donald Trump won in 2016, with the belief that the 2020 race there will be tight and that impeachment is not very popular in those districts.

AAN President Dan Conston said in the group's press release that "It's time for Members of Congress to take a stand, vote no on impeachment, and get back to work on the issues that will actually make a difference in the lives of Americans across our country."
