The Trump administration has implemented almost two-thirds of the 334 agenda items called for in the Heritage Foundation's "Mandate for Leadership" blueprint, the Washington Examiner reported.
Sixty-four percent of the "unique policy recommendations" from the foundation have already been put in place by President Donald Trump, said Thomas Binion of Heritage.
The White House is on a faster pace to implement the recommendations than the Ronald Reagan administration, which also had embraced the Heritage Foundation's agenda, the website noted. Reagan had completed 49 percent of the foundation's policy recommendation at this stage of his presidency, the Examiner said.
"We're blown away," Binion said. Trump, he noted, "is very active, very conservative, and very effective."
And he added: "It is a huge volume that his administration has worked on and it is a huge spectrum of issues."
Heritage pointed out a number of actions the administration has taken which mirror the foundation's "Mandate for Leadership" recommendations.
Those actions include:
- Leaving the Paris Climate Accord
- Repealing net neutrality
- Increasing military spending
- Reforming government agencies
The "Mandate for Leadership" was produced for Reagan in 1981. Every cabinet member received a copy of the book, according to the Examiner. Five books were produced for the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, Heritage President Kay Coles James told NPR young people are ready to step forward and lead the conservative debate.
"I would say that I think that the role that the conservative movement can play, and particularly The Heritage Foundation, is by providing information, data, research and analysis to inform that debate."
