President Donald Trump on Thursday announced he's heading to West Virginia to take part in the Republican retreat while bemoaning the dearth of Democratic support amid a busy legislative agenda.

Republicans also are girding for a battle in the November midterms.

Vice President Mike Pence traveled to the retreat ahead of Trump, telling lawmakers Wednesday that "we have our work cut out for us" this year.
