President Donald Trump reportedly told GOP candidate Karen Handel "You'd better win" against her Democratic opponent in Georgia's 6th congressional district race, The Hill reported Friday.
The exchange took place Friday in a closed door meeting and was reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, citing a person who was in attendance at the meeting.
Handel responded to the president that he had nothing to worry about, according to the Journal-Constitution. Handel faces Democrat Jon Ossoff in a special runoff election that will take place June 20.
Neither Handel nor Ossoff received a majority of votes in the special election that included 18 candidates vying for the seat previously held by Tom Price, who resigned to become Trump's secretary of Health and Human Services.
Trump has been involved in helping Handel campaign to win the seat. He has tweeted support, gave a televised speech, helped with a fundraiser and recorded a robo-call that urged voters to galvanize behind the Republican candidate.
