The rest of the Bush family may be keeping silent on the issue, but Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush says he'll be voting for President Donald Trump in November.
While it might not normally be news that a Republican state official declares his intention to vote for the reelection of a Republican president, 2020 is a different sort of year.
Bush's father, Jeb, who ran against Trump four years ago and earned the famous nickname "Low Energy Jeb" from the eventual winner has yet to say he'll vote for the divisive president. President George W. Bush, the uncle of George P. Bush, has also not declared his intentions.
The New York Times over the weekend reported George W. Bush would not be supporting Trump. George W. Bush didn't vote for Trump in 2016, but his spokesman Freddy Ford offered clarification that the former president is not saying for whom he will cast his general election ballot.
"President Trump is the only thing standing between America and socialism," the commissioner told The Dallas Morning News, adding, "It's clear, Republican policies are working."
"Even in a global pandemic where we have had to take unprecedented measures to protect public health, the economy is already returning," Bush said.
