President Donald Trump on Friday called for the Justice Department to investigate Democrats, after Donna Brazile, a former interim chairwoman for the Democratic National Committee, said in a book the party helped Hillary Clinton win the presidential primary.

"I'm really not involved with the Justice Department, I'd like to let it run itself, but honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats," Trump said to reporters Friday, The Hill reported.

"They should be looking at a lot of things, and a lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me," Trump said, according to The Hill.

In Brazile's book, she wrote that a deal between the DNC and Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign was not illegal, but "sure looked unethical," The Hill reported.

Also on Friday, the president tweeted a number of comments about Hillary Clinton. "At some point, the FBI and the Justice Department must do what is right and proper" and investigate the former Democratic presidential candidate.
