President Donald Trump on Tuesday attacked Democrats over the House impeachment inquiry that has seen several former administration officials testify before Congress.
"Democrats are allowing no transparency at the Witch Hunt hearings," Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. "If Republicans ever did this they would be excoriated by the Fake News. Let the facts come out from the charade of people, most of whom I do not know, they are interviewing for 9 hours each, not selective leaks."
Former Russia adviser Fiona Hill testified before Congress in a closed-door session yesterday, during which she reportedly said she saw "wrongdoing" involving U.S. policy toward Ukraine, according to CNN.
Congress returns from a two-week recess on Tuesday, and House Democrats are set to meet about moving the impeachment inquiry forward at a faster pace. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent was subpoenaed to appear before Congress on Tuesday, which "will be another eight to 10-hour day" of testimony, according to Rep. Jim Jordan. R-Ohio.
"We're getting ready to go in — we've had 30 hours of testimony, we're going into our fourth interview," Jordan told CNN correspondent Manu Raju on Tuesday. "I assume this will be another eight to 10-hour day, each individual offers their own individual and unique perspective. If Chairman Schiff, if Adam Schiff decides to bring Mr. Bolton in we'll have questions for him."
