Hillary Clinton is being slammed for taking a jab at President Donald Trump during the coronavirus pandemic.
Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, early Friday mocked Trump by referencing a campaign slogan he used during his campaign along with a New York Times article reporting the spike in rising coronavirus numbers.
Clinton’s tweet said: “He did promise ‘America First.’”
It wasn’t the first time the former secretary of state criticized Trump’s administration over its handling of the pandemic, tweeting Friday: “A month ago, Trump said: “It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.” Yesterday, he said: “I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators.” What will it take to get @realdonaldtrump to listen to experts instead of his own hunches?”
Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, told Clinton to delete her account.
“This isn’t the time. This can’t be the new normal, where American tragedy is applauded for the sake of political opportunism,” he tweeted.
"This sort of vicious celebratory tone about Americans getting sick & dying during a deadly global pandemic is just appalling," Washington Examiner reporter Jerry Dunleavy said on social media.
"Hillary Clinton touting figures that are a result of Chinese disinformation to dunk on America and sick Americans is a pretty good reminder why she lost in 2016," added National Republican Senatorial Committee senior advisor Matt Whitlock.
"This is beyond the pale," Human Events managing editor Ian Miles Cheong tweeted.
