President Donald Trump said "tremendous goodwill and friendship was formed"during his first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, posted in a Tweet on Saturday.
The White House hosted the visit by Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan where the two leaders met for the first time at Trump’s Florida estate.
The visit was punctuated when the president ordered a missile attack against a Syrian air base in response to a chemical attack launched earlier in the week on a town in the northern part of the country.
Trump has urged support from China against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the threat he poses with his nuclear weapons program. The president also has said he seeks more cooperation with China on trade issues.
