President Donald Trump has reportedly tallied almost 300 of his administration’s achievements, and has “surpassed those of former President Reagan,” according to the Washington Examiner.
The Examiner’s Paul Bedard, in his “Washington Secrets” column, writes that the Trump “administration has counted up 289 accomplishments in 18 categories,” culminating in Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation. According to Bedard, the administration can count “173 major wins like adding more than 4 million jobs and another 116 smaller victories.”
Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, told Bedard that “Trump’s successes in reducing the cost of taxes and regulations, rebuilding our military, avoiding wars of choice and changing the courts rival those of all previous Republican presidents.”
He added that “Trump has an advantage over Ronald Reagan: he has a Reagan Republican House and Senate while Reagan had a [Democratic Speaker] Tip O’Neill House and a pre-Reagan Republican Senate. Reagan and [former Republican House Speaker] Newt Gingrich were the ice breakers that allowed Trump’s victories to grow in number and significance.”
American Enterprise Institute fellow, and former chief speechwriter to President George W. Bush, Marc Thiessen wrote in The Washington Post on Thursday that Trump “may be remembered as the most honest president in modern American history,” despite the fact that he “lies all the time,” because “when it comes to the real barometer of presidential truthfulness — keeping his promises — Trump is a paragon of honesty. For better or worse, since taking office Trump has done exactly what he promised he would.”
