President Donald Trump, slamming his former national security adviser John Bolton as a "stupid guy" says he doesn't think it was a big deal to have fired him.
He is calling for the ex-ambassador to "go to jail" for what he wrote in his memoir. according to a clip shown on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday from an interview the president had while touring the White House with show co-host Brian Kilmeade Monday.
"This is a guy with no personality," Trump told Kilmeade. "All he wanted to do was drop bombs on everybody. He was one of the many people who got us in a war in the Middle East. Recently I said (to him) what did you think? (He said) 'I think we made the right decision.' I said you lost me there it was the worst decision in the history of our country."
But Bolton was a "stupid guy and a guy with no heart," Trump added. "He also had a statement that he would lie whenever he had to. It's a well-known statement and I fired him, and I didn't think it was a big deal."
Trump also told Kilmeade that he "wasn't around" Bolton much, but the former national security adviser still "took classified information and he published it during a presidency. (It's) one thing to write a book after. I believe he is a criminal and I believe frankly he should go to jail for that. "
Trump also tore into Bolton on Twitter Tuesday, the day Bolton's memoir about his time at the White House was officially released, calling him a "creepster" who should be in prison.
