President Donald Trump said Joe Biden’s name 41 times during his acceptance speech Thursday night. But Biden did not say “Trump” at all while accepting the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.
The tallies came from Newsweek, which said the president chose to name Biden in his speech, while frequently blasting the Democratic Party’s nominee.
“No one will be safe in Biden’s America,” Trump said.
CNN noted the president’s remarks also included: “Joe Biden is not the savior of America’s soul – he is the destroyer of America’s jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness.”
And he said: “We have spent the last four years reversing the damage Joe Biden inflicted over the last 47 years.”
Newsweek reported that Biden appeared to make a tactical decision not to speak Trump’s name during his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.
It said Biden had expressed that he wanted to represent the U.S. in what he said was an “American moment” and “not a partisan moment.”
"America isn't just a collection of clashing interests of red states or blue states," he had said. "We're so much bigger than that. We're so much better than that.”
But Biden did mention the president by name in a Thursday night tweet. He wrote: “Remember every example of violence Donald Trump decries has happened on his watch. Under his leadership. During his presidency.”
