Trump Questions Legality of Biden's 'Lawfare' Actions

By    |   Saturday, 23 March 2024 06:57 PM EDT

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to raise concerns about what he calls "lawfare" actions of a sitting president and their potential illegality.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "At what point are the actions of a sitting President, using LAWFARE against his opponent for purposes of Election Interference, considered ILLEGAL? I believe, as do various highly respected legal scholars, that Crooked Joe Biden has long since crossed over that very sacred threshold!!!"

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley recently voiced similar concerns in a televised interview, noting that while some New Yorkers enjoyed the spectacle of indicting Trump, critics saw it as a sign of a declining legal system.

Turley expressed concern about the state of the legal system in New York City. He highlighted the city's reputation as a premier corporate and business law hub and pointed out that this image was now under threat.

With New York Attorney General Letitia James pledging to target Trump, Turley argued that "selective prosecution" was at play. He also highlighted how the "entertainment value" of these proceedings seemed to overshadow the overall "deterioration" of the legal system.

Turley said due to the "disassembling and devolving" legal system in New York, people now view the city as a place where doing business is risky. He noted that the fear is being pulled into a political vortex that can influence how someone is treated legally.
