Voters who backed former Vice President Joe Biden are more likely to say they supported him because they didn't want to vote for President Donald Trump, according to an exit poll.
According to a Morning Consult exit poll, Biden voters were twice as likely as Trump voters to say their vote was more about the other candidate than the one they supported.
Poll results show:
- 75% of Trump voters say their vote was more of a vote for Trump, while only 22% say it was more of a vote against Biden.
- 54% of Biden voters say their vote was in support of Biden, while 44% say it was a vote against Trump.
The poll also found that Biden backers are looking to support a candidate that possesses good judgment, is trustworthy, honest, and stable. For Trump supporters, they want a president who has good mental fitness, is effective, has strong leadership, and judgment.
The poll, which was ongoing between Oct. 30 and Nov. 3, surveyed 10,870 voters who already cast their ballot. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus one percentage point.
