Thirty-nine percent of voters approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing, while 59% disapprove, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll reveals.
At the beginning of June a total of 41% of voters approved of Trump’s job performance, compared to 55% who disapproved, according to Politico.
The latest results come amid a new coronavirus surge throughout parts of the U.S., Politico noted.
Here are how the rest of the poll results, released Wednesday, break down:
- 46% say they are more enthusiastic about voting in this year’s elections than usual, compared to 14% who are less enthusiastic. 36% say their level of enthusiasm is about the same as it was in the past.
- 46% say they trust Joe Biden to contain the spread of the coronavirus, while 32% trust Trump.
- 44% trust Biden to handle the economic recovery following the coronavirus, compared to 42% who trust Trump.
- 50% trust Biden to handle race relations, compared to 29% who trust Trump.
- 18% say Trump’s handling of the coronavirus was excellent; 16% say it was good, 11% say it was just fair and 49% say it was poor.
- 25% say the U.S. is headed in the right direction, while 75% say it is on the wrong track.
The poll, conducted June 26-19, surveyed 1,984 people. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
