Mnuchin Blasts Wolff Book on Twitter

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin joined the White House in bashing a new book that makes explosive and damaging claims about President Donald Trump and his administration.

Mnuchin aired his thoughts on Twitter on Wednesday morning:

An excerpt of the book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" was published in New York Magazine on Wednesday. Author Michael Wolff quoted former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and others as making damaging statements about Trump and members of his family.

The White House blasted the book as "trashy tabloid fiction." Trump tried to downplay Bannon's role in his administration.

A lawyer for Trump sent a letter to Wolff and his published asking them to "cease and desist from any further publication, release or dissemination" of the book.
