President Donald Trump's campaign accused billionaire Tom Steyer of "lying" about snapping up a website with President Trump's 2020 campaign slogan "Keep America Great" and using it to call the president a "fraud" and a "failure."

"Tom Steyer is lying about the availability of this website," Tim Murtaugh, the director of communications for the Trump campaign tweeted, slamming The Hill after it reported the purchase. "Steyer said we 'forgot to pick up the URL.' In fact, the site was created in 2015 & has always been a Trump-hating site. Also would've been good for @thehill to reach out for this story and we could have cleared it up."

Steyer's campaign Monday, however, said the Trump campaign forgot to snap up the URL for its re-election slogan, even though it "prides itself on hoarding websites of political opponents."

"Now, the website offers the opportunity to purchase a bumper sticker that highlights what a majority of Americans already know about Donald Trump: that he's a fraud and failure who borrowed billions of dollars to bankrupt businesses," Steyer's campaign said.

According to online records, the domain was first launched June 25, 2015, a little over a week after Trump launched his campaign June 16.

Trump's first campaign slogan was "Make America Great Again," but the 2020 effort did not announce the "Keep America Great" slogan until early 2017.

And now that Steyer's campaign owns the domain whose name is the slogan, website visitors can donate $1 and get a bumper sticker reading "Trump is a fraud & a failure.”

The campaign also highlights the Democratic National Committee's debate rules saying a candidate must have 200,000 individual donors to hit the stage in December, and that Steyer needs visitors' help to make that happen.
