Brokaw: 'Trump Ran as a Big Time Exec, Not as an Apprentice'

Veteran NBC anchor Tom Brokaw took exception to House Speaker Paul Ryan's defense of Donald Trump, saying the president ran for office as a "big time exec, not as an apprentice."

Brokaw's comments came in the form of a rare tweet:

Spkr Ryan's excuse for Trump - this is new for him. Excuse me? Trump ran as a big time exec, not as an apprentice.

Politico reported Ryan had defended Trump's communications with ex-FBI Director James Comey by saying the president wasn't "steeped in the long-running protocols" of how to deal with law enforcement and is "new at this."
