South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott says South Carolina should be fully up and running by late June.

“This is merely expanding a little bit, the number of businesses that will be open,” Scott said during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Spicer & Co.”

“According to the governor, late June is where we expect to have a robust economy. As a tourist state, we define success based on retail, restaurants and rooms, hotel rooms. Our goal is to see our economy back in business, so to speak, as we enter into May and frankly, as we exit June, we hope to be live and in color, for the lack of a better word.”

Scott, whose new book, “Opportunity Knocks: How Hard Work, Community, and Business Can Improve Lives and End Poverty,” was released April 14, also said there’s a silver lining in the midst of a crisis.

“One of the ways you prepare during these challenging times, or the down time, is to spend time on your goals, your objectives, and looking at the resources that you have available.”

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster on Tuesday restored public beach access, saying his decision was informed by the latest projections that showed the coronavirus’ worst effects might have already peaked in the state.

South Carolina, which has been under a state of emergency since March 13, has 4,761 confirmed cases of the virus and 140 deaths.

McMaster earlier in the week also announced that all public-K12 schools would remain closed throughout the rest of the school year.
