President Donald Trump praised Tiger Woods on Monday for not getting baited by the "fake news media" into saying something negative about the president.
"The Fake News Media worked hard to get Tiger Woods to say something that he didn't want to say. Tiger wouldn't play the game - he is very smart," Trump tweeted.
Woods on Sunday said you "have to respect the office" of president when asked about his relationship with Trump.
"Well, he’s the president of the United States," Woods said after a tournament. "You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office."
Woods' answer came in response to a reporter who baited him by asking what he would say "to people who might find it interesting that you have a friendly relationship with" Trump.
Woods and Trump have known each other for a number of years and have played rounds of golf together.
