Former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency acting director Thomas Homan has written a book urging the reelection of President Donald Trump, saying it is the only way the wall on the U.S.-Mexico border will be completed, Newsweek reported on Wednesday.
The new book, "Defend the Border and Save Lives: Solving Our Most Important Humanitarian and Security Crisis," lavishes praise on Trump for not only his stringent policies, but for what Homan says is making good on his promises.
Homan worked under six different presidential administrations.
"President [Ronald] Reagan was fairly strong on immigration. President [Bill] Clinton was decent on immigration, because he actually talked about how we need to secure our borders," Homan said, adding that only "Trump walks the walk" and claims he is the first president he has worked under to understand "the immigration issue inside out."
Homan stressed, "We've got to keep Donald Trump in office in 2020. If we don't win, the border is in big trouble and so is our country.
"Even if you don't particularly like the president's outspoken personality, do you really believe the Democrats' policies and passive-aggression toward citizens will help this country?"
Trump praised the "great new book" written by a "great guy" in a tweet on Tuesday.
