Joe Biden on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump of lying about the availability of coronavirus tests, insisting that Trump is "living in fantasy land" and that not everyone can be tested for the disease whenever they feel they need a diagnosis.
"The truth is the truth," the presumptive Democrat nominee told ABC "Good Morning America" anchor George Stephanopoulos. "Granted, more tests are coming forward but, look, this needless complacency that the president has engaged in from the very beginning — he knew about this crisis all the way back in January and February."
Biden also accused Trump of having been "incompetent in the way he responded" to the coronavirus emergency.
"We have 80,000 deaths," said Biden. "We have more deaths, more of the virus than any nation in the world. What's the story here?"
Meanwhile, Biden said that if he was president, he would tell the nation's governors to listen to Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is expected to warn a Senate committee that the consequences could be devastating if the nation's doors open too soon.
Biden, who has been campaigning from his home in Delaware amid the coronavirus pandemic, denied claims that he's "hiding."
"We're following the guidelines of the experts, the Dr. Faucis of the world doing well and as a matter of fact, we're winning if you look at all the polling data," said Biden. "The president should follow the rules instead of showing up to places without masks and the whole thing."
He also again briefly denied the allegations from former staffer Tara Reade, who claims he sexually assaulted her in 1993.
"I think women should be believed. They should have an opportunity to have their case and state it forthrightly what their case is," said Biden. "Then it's the responsibility of responsible journalists like you and everyone else to go out and investigate those. At the end of the day the truth is the truth. That's what should prevail and the truth is this never happened."
