After author Stephen King encouraged Texans to not vote for Ted Cruz in November, the senator struck back at the author, according to The Right Scoop.

Cruz is running to keep his seat against Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke in the upcoming November election.

King tweeted his support for O'Rouke and disdain for Cruz on Tuesday.

Cruz fought back with a tweet of his own on Wednesday.

According to the latest University of Texas/Texas Tribune PollCruz lead O'Rourke 41 percent to 36 percent.

Libertarian party nominee received 2 percent, while 3 percent said they would vote for someone else. Seventeen percent said that they haven't thought enough about the race to have a preference.
