Politics makes for strange bedfellows and that was the case this week as Ted Cruz and John McCain gave a rare tip of the hat to each other.
Politico reports the Texas senator, winner of the Iowa presidential caucuses, was busy stumping for the upcoming primary in New Hampshire when he invoked the name of the Arizona senator, who has warred with him on Capitol Hill.
Responding to a voter's question about the how the nation should negotiate with Russia, Cruz said McCain likes to say Russia is a "gas station" that happens to be attached to a country.
Asked by Politico about the Texas senator's comment, McCain said, "Glad to hear it ... If he agrees with me, then of course it's always good to know."
In the past, Cruz has fired away at McCain for being part of the Republican "Washington establishment," while McCain has ripped Cruz for his abrasive, take-no-prisoners style on Capitol Hill and on the campaign trail.
