TheTeaParty.Net, one of the biggest tea party groups in the country, is trying to broaden its reach to the Senate.
The group organized the first meeting of the House Tea Party Caucus last month and plans to host its next congressional meeting in July for senators,
Politico reports.
"What we're going to put on in July in the Senate is going to be unprecedented," Niger Innis, chief strategist of the group, told Politico.
TheTeaParty.Net plans to invite all 45 Republican senators, not just those who have received tea party support in the past.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has been called "the chair of the tea party caucus in the Senate," even though a formal caucus group does not yet exist.
