Forty-four percent of voters in swing states no longer plan to back President Donald Trump because of the way he handled the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report by Conservative strategists CT group.
CT group surveyed 6,500 voters in Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania, according to Business Insider.
Overall, 56 percent of former Trump voters said they wouldn’t vote for the president on Nov. 3, citing the pandemic as one of the factors behind their decision. Sixty-five percent of Trump defectors thought Democrat Joe Biden would handle the pandemic better.
Seventy percent said Biden was the best overall candidate for the job.
The survey, like many other national polls, suggested the race was closer in these seven states, with 49 percent saying they back Biden and 43 percent saying they back Trump.
"It is clear from the data in these swing states what each of the campaigns needs to do, especially in winning over those voters who have yet to make up their minds or who say they could still change their minds before the election,” Sam Lyon, managing director of CT Group, told Business Insider.
