Sen. Susan Collins was caught on a hot microphone Tuesday calling a Republican congressman "fat" and "unattractive," the Washington Examiner reported.
On Friday, Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, went on a Corpus Christi radio station and blamed the failure of the Senate to pass healthcare on "some female senators from the northeast," and suggested he would have challenged them to a duel — "Aaron Burr style" — had they been men from Texas.
Collins took it personally and got personal in a conversation with Senate Appropriations subcommittee ranking Democrat Jack Reed after their meeting concluded Tuesday.
"Well, fat guy. He's huge," Collins said of Farenthold, according to the Examiner.
"He's so … he's so unattractive, it's unbelievable. Did you see the picture of him in his pajamas next to this bunny, this Playboy bunny?" Collins said of a picture of Farenthold from 2010 in blue pajamas with ducks on it.
Reed got engaged with it, too.
"Do you know why he challenged you to a duel?" Reed replied. "Because you could beat the **** out of him first."
Collins was one of about 13 Republican senators who opposed and vowed to vote down the chamber's healthcare legislation, the Better Care Reconciliation Act.
