House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana is fresh off a week of campaigning for Republican incumbents, mere months after relearning to walk, Politico reports.

Further, Scalise announced he's transferring $1 million to the House's campaign arm in support of Republicans, Politico reports. Scalise just made campaign stops in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and into the Midwest.

That's pretty aggressive for a guy who lay bleeding and dying on a Virginia ballfield last June.

Scalise has more trips on the docket, too, with requests from colleagues who want him by their side on the campaign trail. According to Politico, Scalise will be campaigning in:

  • Texas
  • Florida
  • New York
  • California
  • Tennessee
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Pennsylvania
  • Illinois

Scalise spent significant time in the hospital following his near-fatal wounds, having to undergo numerous surgeries — including another in January — and recovery stemming from a gunshot wound to the hip that tore through arteries and organs.

Scalise says he has many more months of rehabilitation in order to "walk properly and hopefully walk without crutches."
