President Donald Trump plans to continue holding his rallies and "is not concerned" about the health risks to himself, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said Monday, commenting after health officials recommended people not be in large crowds.

"I will tell you with our president, this man who doesn't sleep and who I have seen work 15, 16 hours a day every day, I have no problem thinking that he is going to be just fine and just healthy," Grisham told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "The president of the United States, as we all know, is quite a hand washer. He uses hand sanitizer all the time. He is not concerned about this at all."

Her comments come after Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Sunday that people, particularly those with underlying serious health conditions, should "seriously" consider avoiding large crowds.

Grisham also repeated the warning herself, saying that the administration is "telling people to act as if this is a severe flu season and wash your hands often. If you are elderly or have any ailments or underlying health issues, maybe don't go to areas where there are big crowds. If you do start to feel sick, stay at home, don't go to work. Things like that."

Two lawmakers — Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas — said Sunday they plan to self-quarantine at home after having contact with the person at CPAC who tested positive for the virus. Grisham noted that "perhaps they have constituents a little older," leading to their making "responsible choices."

Grisham also said she wants politicians and the media to stop politicizing the disease.

"This is not the time for this," she said. "People need to be looking to the CDC for guidance ... this is absolutely not the time to try to scare people to gain political points or make headlines."
