Rep. Elise Stefanik, after campaigning in Georgia for Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, Tuesday called for Republicans to back their election because the Senate "is at play" and could swing far to the left if Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock win the runoff races.
"We know how far left the House has been under Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi's leadership," the New York Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "We cannot lose the Senate and allow Chuck Schumer to become the majority leader. So if you are in Georgia, make sure you turn out to vote today."
Issues such as the Constitution, tax laws, and Second Amendment rights are on the ballot, she added.
"This is a choice between higher taxes, which Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff support, or lower taxes," said Stefanik. "This is a choice between standing up for the Constitution, which David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have a record of, versus shedding the Constitution in terms of not it supporting Second Amendment rights, not standing up for states' rights."
The race is also a matter of healthcare, whether it's moving toward a "progressive takeover" with government-run plans or a system for quality healthcare, said Stefanik.
Meanwhile, with Republicans lining up in Congress to object to the certification of the Electoral College votes, Stefanik insisted that the election results from at least one state are not fair.
"I did not go into this decision lightly," she said. "I spent a lot of time listening to my constituents. I spent a lot of time listening to patriotic Americans across the country. I believe that this debate and discussion is owed to the American people. You have tens of millions of Americans who really have questions about ballot integrity and election security. I also have serious questions about the constitutionality of unilateral changes that were made in multiple states by unelected bureaucrats, secretaries of state, who circumvented state legislatures in many states they did not follow their own state's election law."
The argument isn't only about the November election, she added, but to make sure elections are fair and free and based on the Constitution in the future.
