The Southern Poverty Law Center,a liberal civil rights organization, cited Stephen Bannon by name as a "purveyor of white nationalist propaganda" in a fundraising letter it sent soliciting help in fighting back against hate groups.
The letter, penned by SPLC co-founder and Chief Trial Counsel Morris Dees, started the letter by making a clear reference to President Donald Trump: "White supremacists believe they have their man in the White House."
And Dees also targets conservative Bannon, President Trump's chief White House adviser.
"We're pushing back against radical-right extremists who are attempting to hijack our democracy — exposing people like Stephen Bannon, a purveyor of white nationalist propaganda," Dees wrote.
Further, Dees says Trump's victory has been interpreted as a "license to harass and intimidate minorities."
"We have to unite and fight back with every resource we can muster against these hatemongers — because we've seen how their racism and bigotry poisons our democracy and leads to violence and discrimination," Dees wrote.
