Mexican cartel assassins are currently operating inside the United States, a California sheriff said in testimony before Congress this week, according to The Washington Times.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux of Tulare County, California, appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, where he testified that his agency had recently arrested a man who confessed to being a hit man for the Sinaloa Cartel and claimed to have killed more than 25 people in the Golden State alone.
"He was responsible for certain areas of California and there were many other assassins assigned by cartels in California, throughout California, that were responsible for those areas," Boudreaux said.
According to Boudreaux, his agency targeted about 50 cartel associates over the course of their investigation who were allegedly involved in the trafficking of drugs, weapons, and people across the border, which he said is "easier now than in the history of their cartel."
