Rep. John Ratcliffe is one step closer to serving as the country’s next spy chief.
The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday said the republican lawmaker from Texas was approved to go before Senate for a full confirmation vote.
Trump nominated Ratcliffe to serve as the next director of National Intelligence.
Three members of the Senate panel told The Hill he received the green light to go for a full vote.
“It was a straight party-line vote,” Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the vice chairman of the committee, told The Hill.
Ratcliffe could lose as many as three GOP senators during the floor vote and still be confirmed. No Republican has publicly said they will oppose him.
