Sen. Collins: Public Should Trust Senate Intel Committee
MSNBC's "Morning Joe"

By    |   Thursday, 30 March 2017 03:50 PM EDT

The American people should be confident the Senate Intelligence Committee will reveal the truth about Russia's involvement in the U.S. election, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said Thursday.

Sen. Collins insisted on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" she and Sens. Richard Burr, R-N.C., and Mark Warner, D-Va., the chairman and ranking member respectively, have demonstrated their ability to "make sure the committee members are all involved."

"This has really been a non-partisan investigation, not just a bipartisan investigation," Collins added. "At the end of our work, I believe that the American public will know what happened, will be on alert for additional Russian efforts to sow the seeds of doubts about our democracy and will be able to accept our findings and recommendations."

On CNN's "New Day" on Monday, Collins compared the House investigation to "following a mystery novel," telling Chris Cuomo, "You never know what is going to happen next. But I will say this, that although this has been a crazy year, the one thing that has remained constant is that the House never takes kindly to the Senate telling it how to operate or conduct its investigations."
