The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will investigate the Obama administration's response to the alleged Russian hacking, according to The Hill.
The committee will brief administration officials Thursday.
Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker oversees the group, which told The Hill that Obama's administration has refused to provide witnesses for a public hearing.
The Obama administration announced Dec. 29 economic sanctions against the GRU and the FSB — two of Russia's main intelligence organizations — as well as four officers, three companies that supported GRU, and six individuals.
Corker told CNN in December 2016 that he and his aides would probe the hacking allegations.
"We are going to systematically walk through the entire Russia issue and fully understand what has transpired," Corker said.
The Armed Services and Intelligence committees are also expected to look into allegations that Russia interfered in the presidential election, according to The Hill.
"Putin remarkably and disappointingly has ended up being front and center on the world stage," Corker said in last month's CNN appearance. "It's hard to believe for a country that has so little going for it."
