The State Department's plans to collect social media history from people seeking entry into the United States is the right approach, Sebastian Gorka, a former adviser to President Donald Trump, said Friday.
"Think about it, if you applied to be somebody's dog walker they check your social media," Gorka told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
"Under the Obama administration they said that you're not allowed for privacy reasons, that State Department officials cannot look at somebody's Facebook page if they're applying for a VISA.
"That's insanity."
Some immigrants put their "ideological proclivities" online, he added, and one can tell if they are sympathetic with ISIS or al-Qaida.
"It happened with the San Bernardino killers," Gorka said. "This is common sense finally returning to government."
If a person is spouting ideological message, even if they haven't committed any crimes, that's still a "massive red flag" to immigration officials, said Gorka.
"We're here to protect our citizens, our fellow Americans," he said. "The president promised this. Now the president is delivering."
Gorka also praised the nomination of CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state and John Bolton as national security adviser, while answering complaints from some that the decisions will allow Trump to unleash on radical Islam.
"John Bolton, who was Nikki Haley before Nikki Haley was at the U.N., coming over to the National Security Council this is just superb," said Gorka, while also praising Pompeo. "This is what the president promised on the campaign trail, in front of Congress with the State of the Union. Radical Islamic terrorism must be crushed."
Trump has "unleashed the military," and ISIS' physical caliphate is "practically destroyed," said Gowdy. "We have to finish the job. [There are] no two better people to bring into the administration. It's a great time to be in America. I'm so excited."
