Hungarian police have removed Sebastian Gorka, a former counter-terrorism adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, from its list of wanted persons.

Gorka, who was born in Britain and lived in Hungary after the fall of the Iron Curtain before moving to the U.S., was wanted for violations connected to firearms or ammunition in Hungary, local media reported last month. Gorka is known as a gun enthusiast, while Hungary, like most European countries, has strict gun-control laws.

"We no longer expect any results from the Hungarian pursuit," Major Tamas Andras, a spokesman for Pest county police, said in an emailed response to questions from Bloomberg on Monday, without further details.

The news that Gorka was removed from the list was first reported on Twitter by a journalist of the local news website Index.

Gorka left the White House in August after former Trump chief strategist Stephen Bannon was ousted. Gorka is a former editor at Breitbart News, where Bannon was executive chairman until his departure last month.
