President Donald Trump is "absolutely right" with his call to stop decades of abuse that he says have taken place in the United States' dealings With Canada, former presidential aide Sebastian Gorka said Monday.
"You have a country like Canada that says it's our friend and ally, a member of NATO," Gorka told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "It has a tariff on our dairy products that's almost 300 percent. Is that what friends do to each other?
He also said the European Union also is guilty of abuses when it comes to tariffs.
"When we want to import a car into the European Union, they put a tax on that's almost four times what we put on European cars coming into the United States," said Gorka. "Is that what friends do? The president has come along and just said 'this is wrong, we need to fix it."
Gorka said he also approves of the administration's decision to pull $300 million in aid to Pakistan.
"I spent six years as a professor inside the Department of Defense teaching our friends, our partners and our allies and it was a problem back then,' said Gorka. "We were paying Pakistani officers to come to the United States and these people in many cases were not our friends, they were sympathetic to jihadists."
If countries such as Pakistan wish to be friends with the United States, he added, they should behave like a friend.
"If you're playing footsie with the bad guys, don't expect us to pay your rent check," said Gorka.
