White House press secretary Sean Spicer said he does not plan on leaving his job any time soon.
"I feel very good… It truly is an honor to have this job and I feel very humbled every day to have it and to represent the president, the White House and the American people," Spicer told "CBS This Morning" on Monday.
"I love what I do and as long as the president wants me around, I'll stay," he added.
Many in Washington have speculated about whether Spicer's job is secure. According to The Washington Post, reporters have privately complained that he badgers them during press briefings.
Spicer told CBS the press should cover the president fairly, and "I think that's where a lot of the tension comes is when you take an issue out of context or try to create a narrative that isn't there."
His relationship with reporters is not as divisive as it may appear during press conferences, Spicer said, "it's only one piece of a day. You know, it's about 40 minutes a day. The rest of it is a lot calmer and a lot more pleasant… most of the exchanges are very pleasant throughout the day. You're just seeing one glimpse of what happens."
Recent reports indicate President Donald Trump is pleased with Spicer's performance.
"I'm not firing Sean Spicer. That guy gets great ratings," Trump said.
