There is nothing wrong with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff bringing in a former National Security Council official to help with the investigation into President Donald Trump's finances and Russian collusion, despite President Donald Trump's complaints, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney said Friday.
"For one thing, they would have a pre-existing security clearance so they can get started on day one," the New York Democrat told CNN's 'New Day." "It is a stupid, silly complaint from a man who claims to be innocent and acts very guilty. Thieves think all men steal."
There is also nothing wrong with conducting "serious congressional oversight" concerning foreign influence in elections and money influencing policy decisions, said Maloney.
Further, Trump thinks all investigations will be completely partisan, "like the Republicans did" but Schiff is a "serious man. We'll do a good job."
Maloney said the House committee's new investigation will fill in holes that should have been addressed "when the Republicans issued the report prematurely."
He added that he'd like for the committee to find out the facts, and whatever witness could be called should be required to provide information about the matters at hand.
"That will obviously include members of the president's family like Don Jr., who was involved centrally in critical meetings," said Maloney. "There is no one person in particular we are after. I want the facts and I want it to be fair."
