Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann are battling it out for the conservative vote in the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. And Santorum took a shot at Bachmann while campaigning in the state Tuesday,
Politico reports.
“Only four years in the House,” Santorum said of his presidential rival. “I served four years in the House. I wasn't ready to be president after four years in the House of Representatives. The minority in the House is about as much Siberia as there is in Washington, D.C.”
Bachmann represents one of the most solidly Republican districts in Minnesota, but has had difficulty winning in each of her three elections, Santorum said. “It's not like she's ever had any record of success of attracting the kind of voters we need if we're going to win this.”
