Michael Cohen would have shelled out hush money on President Donald Trump’s behalf to other women besides Stormy Daniels “if it was necessary,” Rudy Giuliani said Sunday — though he said he’s got “no knowledge of that” being the case.
In an interview with ABC News’ “This Week,” the former New York City mayor was asked if Cohen, the president’s personal lawyer, made payments to other women on Trump’s behalf beside the porn star, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
“I have no knowledge of that but I would think if it was necessary, yes,” he responded.
He also discounted the $130,000 payment Cohen made was “a real payment.”
“She wants to make a lot more money than $130,000,” he said. “I never thought $130,000 — I know this sounds funny to people there at home — I never thought $130,000 was a real payment. It’s a nuisance payment.”
He said in his legal experience, in “a real possibility, it’s a couple million dollars” to settle, adding: “People don’t go away for $130,000.”
Giuliani — who came under fire from the president for saying he reimbursed Cohen for the payment, contradicting Trump’s insistence of having no knowledge of the payment — said Sunday “I don’t think anyone believes that he knew about it at the time.”
“I don’t know when the president learned about it,” he said.
He also hit the porn star’s appearance on Saturday Night Live, criticizing her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, for allowing the comic turn.
“This is a serious case and not a comedy,” he said.
