Democrats are “overreaching” with economic and public health policies that thwart anti-regulation strategies championed by former President Donald Trump, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said Sunday.
In an interview on the premiere of Newsmax TV’s “Save the Nation,” Roy said voters feel especially burdened by COVID-19 restrictions.
“The American people are frustrated about having their businesses shut down,” he said. “They’re frustrated by being told what to do [about] their families, their schools… frustrated about the entire environment and not being able to have jobs and opportunity right now.”
“What you've got Democrats doing is running in to advance a leftist agenda, none of which will actually help them, none of which will help lift people [who] ought to be able to create jobs through the normal way we do it in America — by prosperity, through hard work, and creating jobs with strong economy,” he continued.
According to Roy, instead Democrats are focusing on fracking, which he predicted would result in rising energy prices and declining jobs, and “a radical agenda on our border.”
“It's completely out of step,” he said. “And yes, they're moving quickly. Democrats are good at that. They love government.”
“Democrats are trying to take this for a run, and I think they're overreaching,” he declared. “They're gonna hit on the wall, the American people are already recoiling to what they're doing, and we're gonna call him out on it every step of the way.”
