The presidential Hail Mary notwithstanding, the Republican Party needs to get behind running "down every single irregularity" in election results, according to Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Sunday.

"Ultimately it is going to be in the courts," McDaniel told "The Cats Roundtable," on WABC 770 AM-N.Y., per The Hill. "From a party perspective, we need to run down every single irregularity and make sure we pursue it so it doesn't happen again, and see if it changes the course of this election."

President Donald Trump's election challenge has received tepid support in the party because he is shaking up one of democracy's staples, but the GOP's future depends on it.

"We should know who is voting," McDaniel told host John Catsimatidis. "Everyone should want legal voters to vote.

"But we also need to make sure that our elections are not so porous and fraught with insufficiencies that allow bad ballots to get in or people to vote who shouldn't be."

The mass mail-in ballots under the guise of coronavirus has lowered the bar on election security, she added.

"I think that's the biggest issue we are seeing with this election," McDaniel said. "States that really lowered their standards, that didn't care about signature matching, that didn't care about voter ID laws, that ignored things that put safeguards in place to protect the election."

Regardless of the president's election fate, the evidence of fraud found can be some pressure on Democrats to submit to voter identification legislation.

"We have to get back to higher standards," McDaniel concluded. "I don't know why Democrats have gone so long with saying that we shouldn't have voter ID. People should have to show an ID to vote."
