Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said Democrats should have been involved in drafting a new healthcare bill.
"I wish we were doing this on a bipartisan basis," Johnson told CNN's "New Day" program on Wednesday. "I think it was a mistake saying right away we were going to do this partisan. That's where we're at."
And he added: "Maybe what we're going to have to do is our partisan bill (and) Democrats do theirs. We're not going to fix all of these problems. Then maybe, maybe everybody will sit down and lets long-term fix the health-care system. Let's start controlling health-care costs."
Ohio Gov. Jon Kasich also has called on fellow Republicans to work with Democrats on a healthcare solution, the Washington Examiner reported.
"This can be done and should be done, not in a partisan way, but in a bipartisan way," Kasich said.
