Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., tweeted that he requested House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to call on House intelligence committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes to declassify any documents related to the dossier on President Donald Trump.
"The more we learn about the production of the discredited (Christopher) Steele dossier, the more it appears that a select group of FBI and Justice Department officials utilized what was effectively Hillary Clinton’s political opposition research document," DeSantis wrote.
DeSantis said in the request that the documents should be declassified "to maintain the integrity of our democratic process."
Steele, the former British spy who compiled the dossier of allegations about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, brought the document to the FBI in July 2016 because he was worried that a political candidate was the victim of blackmail, the founder of opposition research firm Fusion GPS, Glenn Simpson, said in a congressional interview.
