Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking heat from a lot of Republicans for the healthcare law he implemented as governor of Massachusetts. They say his plan was basically the same as President Barack Obama’s. But conservative Sen. Jim DeMint disagrees,
The Hill reports.
At the Palmetto Freedom Forum DeMint co-hosted Monday, the South Carolina senator said Romney "makes a good distinction between what the federal government and state government can do, but I frankly think that a mandate, a requirement that somebody has to buy a particular, government-approved health policy is wrong — whether it's at the state or federal level.”
Bottom line: “There are some big differences between what was done in Massachusetts and Obamacare," DeMint said.
